Before we start looking at what your options are, we need to get a brief idea of what's causing the wart. Warts are caused by a viral infection. The HPV virus enters a tiny cut on your finger through direct contact with a contaminated surface. Once it has settled down, it causes an increased growth of your skin cells. Which lead to the commonly raised bump shape.
Most treatments aim to remove the wart, or growth containing the virus. Treatments include home remedies, surgery (good old cutting and laser removal), burning, and freezing. All of these can be done at the doctor’s office with increased efficacy, but it will cost you an arm and a leg. If you're a little tight on money, there are burning and freezing treatments available over the counter.
Your best bet is to freeze the wart and surrounding area of infection. Freezing the area with extremely cold temperatures will cause it to blister. This lifts the growth from the healthy tissue. It also destroys rogue blood vessels feeding the growth and helping maintain and Increase its size.
To freeze your wart, purchase an over the counter wart freezing kit from your local pharmacy or online. Just follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer. It will take more than one treatment to get rid of your wart completely. I know the manufacturer says something along the lines of "...as little as one treatment...", but the truth is it takes more than one treatment.
You might even need to treat the wart again after a successful treatment. Remember that warts are caused by a virus. If any of it remains after what seemed to have been a successful removal, the wart will return shortly after. Yes it sucks, but the good news is that it will come back smaller (making it easier to remove). Just freeze it again. Repeat this process until it doesn't come back.
Some of the people who have tried freezing complain that that it didn't work for them. They say that the wart came back after the initial treatment. This is because they don't understand the root cause of warts and don't understand how freezing works and why it works. Once you do (which you do now), you'll understand that it often takes multiple removals to completely get rid of them.
There are many treatments out there, but freezing is the best choice for removing a finger wart and other warts on places like the hands. Application only takes a few minutes so you can go back to using them after. Treatment doesn't get interrupted and the efficacy of the treatment doesn't diminish.
Having a finger wart makes it much harder to remove due to where it is located, your hands. Your hands are constantly exposed to dirt, germs, water, etc. You use them constantly and have to keep washing them. This makes it difficult to keep a wart treatment on for long (which is what it takes to actually remove warts). This doesn't mean you don't have any options though. You can still use the solution mentioned below and permanent results.
